Nikola Nikolov began his art education at the school of applied arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, specializing in working with metal, where he also received classical training in drawing and modeling. This led to a brief roller coaster ride as a two week protégé of the French fashion designer Paco Rabanne in 1995. Nikola Nikolov continued his art education at ABK Maastricht in the Netherlands in 1996. While working as a dishwasher to make ends meet, Nikola collected the dishes that were broken and bound them together into new art objects. These objects symbolized the process of memories lost and memories gained while integrating into a new culture. After graduating from the acclaimed Sandberg Institute of Amsterdam in 2002, Nikola has transformed his method of working with discarded materials into the concept of Studio-Re-Creation which was launched in 2009.

CV

“Who we are and how we communicate are questions that have been with us since the beginning of time. They have led us to a history of many cultures.

Today, more then ever, we strive to segregate ourselves, into who we are as individuals. As a result of this, many cultural traditions have been shattered into a million pieces, like a fine piece of porcelain lost forever on a hard stone floor.“

- Nikola Nikolov - 2002
